How to Unlock Your Vehicle

If your Volvo key fob has begun to function intermittently, that's an indication that the battery is getting old and will need replacement in the near future.
You can replace the Volvo key fob batteries yourself by following a few steps. Find a clean area to work on. Place all the tools you will need. Locate the battery's hatch and make sure it is set to "open." Make use of a flathead screwdriver, coin or any other similar tool to turn the hatch wide. Then, carefully remove the battery from its socket by lifting up on the side closest to the key-ring loop. Replace the battery, then snap the fob.
Note: Some older Volvo models use an entirely different type of battery which is the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 tenths of a millimeter less than a CR2032 battery, which means you'll need to be careful with the placement of the replacement.
